Our clients, both artists, one a painter and the other a maker/filmmaker had outgrown the small commercial building which had served as their office and studio for the past decade. The new addition provides our artist clients with high ceilings and uninterrupted gallery walls. Light which otherwise would come from windows, is brought in through a curved continuous scoop and ganged skylights. A single large window and custom workshop door face an overhang protected working courtyard shaped and softened by the building’s inset wooden liner. Contrasting the wooden liner is a tougher gray corrugated metal cladding covering and blurring the seam between the original building  and new addition.
